My handyman put a coat of Flood Solid Stain on my deck yesterday after power washing, cleaning/scrubbing with a deck cleaner (allowing several days to dry) and sanding all the peeling previous solid stain. However, he did not use a stain remover on the old solid stain and now the new stain is tacky despite great weather and 24 hours to dry. I did some research on here and realize now he should have removed the old stain before putting on the new. Is there anything we can do other than starting all over with a stain remover? He's spent hours on this already and the dry weather won't hold out for much longer. I wish I had paid more attention 🙁
Stain strippers will not remove a solid stain. The only way to remove a solid stain effectively is by sanding it all off.
I would leave it alone and let it cure. See what happens
