It looks like you removed most of the old stain. I would just spot-apply to the areas that are worse, then pressure-wash those areas after 15 minutes....

If you do not allow the wood to weather and then prep after, you will run the risk of premature stain failure.

Messmers is easy to strip. What stripper product are you using? Are you pressure washing after? If so, with a gas-powered or electric pressure washer....
