I've used this product to clean my deck. It seems to have done a pretty good job, but I read in another post that using bleach is bad for the wood. This product I understand is "oxygenated" if that makes any difference. My question is: have I screwed up? What should be my next step? I do eventually want to restain my deck. It was stained 3 yrs ago with One Time -- another bad move. Gaham
Bleach can be bad for wood as it may damage the lignin, breaking down the wood's cellular structure. The Clorox Outdoor is not an "oxygenated bleach" but rather a normal high concentrated bleach that contains Sodium hypochlorite. At this point there is not much you can do. I would not worry about it though. Just make sure you rinse your wood thoroughly.
How bad was the One Time? Did it turn dark or black in color?
The One Time didn't hold up well and did turn dark particularly under a tree overhanging part of the deck. It's also overpriced. Should I now use a stripper and brightener before staining? Thanks, Gaham
I would strip and brighten. The Restore A Deck Stripper or HD80 should remove it with a low pressure wash.
