What's up guys...I have done a lot of research on Stains and their application over the years. Most of my experience comes from owning a cedar behemoth in Atlanta Georgia. I have used many different products over the years and I know what WORKS and what DOESN'T. On my home, I now only use Sherwin Williams Products. That's right, Sherwin Williams. Why? Because they work of course..Throughout the years, I have tried different Stains and the Woodscapes line of stain works as well as any of the others. Even better really..I have to take the reviews on this site with caution because I use the products that are bashed everyday on here. I have these on my home and deck right now and they are just awesome so something isn't jiving..For example, SW Superdeck and Dock..This stuff is like Armor for your deck. It's not going to be used for "beauty" but for sheer durability(what I want) it's the best. It really is!

So let's do a test on another hated product together, in close to real time. If this site is up to it and doesn't remove my post, I will post new videos every 2 months on my cheesy YouTube channel showing REAL results. Good or Bad!  Today, I had my painters paint my 3 month old Fence with BEHR Premium Waterproofing Stain and my Deck Stair backers with SW Woodscapes. I did not strip, clean, or brighten any piece of lumber. I WAS going to wait the "proper" time and use the "proper" products but thought wth, lets have some fun. So, After my painters finished with what they were really at the house for, I had them go to the dreaded local Home Depot and buy BEHR's Premium Waterproofing Stain. I instructed them to spray out the fence and they were done in 3 hours. No Prep!

In addition, if you look at the weather channel, you will see that we are going to be slammed with tornadoes, 1.5 inch Ice Balls, and torrential Rain tomorrow here in Atlanta. These products couldn't have been applied in a worse scenario. By all accounts on here, I shouldn't have any stain left on my fence by tomorrow afternoon. That may be true, who knows, but let's see together in a real review by someone who has zero affiliation with these companies.

So, here we go..The videos are up and I will keep them updated with real results from the fence to your computer. Again, I could careless if it fails as we will have the true answer in real time and on video. A REAL review..Good or Bad!

BEHR Premium Stain vs Sherwin Williams Woodscapes--Vid # 1

Hello ABW,

Just an FYI, our review articles of these Brand names are not with solid stains, but their semi-transparent coatings on horizontal decking surfaces. Your deck is with the Super Deck solid stain acrylic and that is not what our reviews are based on so you are not comparing apples to apples. You are also in a warm weather state that is not prone to freeze/thaw. With the SW Super Deck, we tested their penetrating oil based semi-transparent stain. Completely different product than what you used.

On the fence, you are using the Behr Premium Solid Stain on a fence that is vertical wood. Our tests are with their semi-transparent version on a horizontal deck. Once again, not comparing apples to apples.

Within your testing of these two brands, you are also not comparing apples to apples. Vertical stained wood always lasts 2-3 times longer than horizontals will. Because of this, the Behr Solid stain will have an advantage even though the SW Super Deck is most likely a superior solid stain.

We take offense when you say to not believe our reviews in your video. Your test is not with the same product types we tested and there are many 100s of consumers who back up our results.

We are not against you posting updates between these two solid stains and your two different surface areas. It will be interesting to see which one performs better.

Thanks

First, I want to make clear that I was not talking about YOUR reviews in particular. I was talking about ALL the bad reviews surrounding BEHR. I could careless so let's just see..If you took offense, I apologize..It will be a good test of a solid color stain..

Also, you have misunderstood the two products being compared.  I am comparing BEHR Premium Waterproofing to Sherwin Williams Woodscapes. They are both being used on vertical surfaces. The Sherwin Williams Woodscapes is being used on the vertical stair backer boards as shown in the video. The BEHR Premium is on the Fence..(The Super Deck and Dock is what I always use on my horizontal surface and is not in this review. It was already on my Deck and is a far superior product.)

Okay and thanks for the reply and clarification of which product was being used. Just to confirm for anyone who reads this forum topic:

Behr Premium Solid Stain is on the vertical fencing.

SW Woodscapes Solid Stain in on the vertical risers of the steps.

Please post your updates as you see fit. This site does encourage both good and bad reviews and understands that not everyone will have the same experiences.

Thanks

No worries...I am no fan of BEHR to be sure..However, I have heard from a buddy of mine that they have changed the way they make paint and stain now for some reason. (Probably due to Home Depot pressure) He told me that their new line of paint (ultra) and new Nano stain is really high quality so I thought I would test them out..Should be fun..
