Hiya. First post here. I'm planning on helping a friend with refinishing her deck and she was told that her deck was Teak wood. Can anybody familiar with staining teak tell if that is what she has here? Would it be best to use a stripper and then only sand what's left, or should we go right ahead with the sander? Deck is extremely large at +/- 1200 sq ft. In Montana.
Looks like IPE or teak. Strip and brighten for the prep. See this about what type of stain to use:
First time poster. I was told the wood variety is teak. Could you please tell me is what wood variety it appears to be? Also I have cleaned and brightened. Appears that I will need one more Round if brightening to get the color consistent. Do you agree? The deck is in full sun for about 3/4 of the day.
1. What type of wood?
2. Agree on another round of Brightener to get color consistent?
3. Any advice on choosing a semi transparent stain? How long to let dry out before placing stain?
First pic is before defy cleaner and then defy Brightener. Second pic is after
Thanks for any input.
1. some kind of hardwood but nor sure if Teak or something else.
2. Brightener will not fix this. That need to be cleaned our first and then brightener after.
3. Try Defy Hardwood Stains.
