Howdy folks:

Hope you are all well and enjoying the summer. 07/08/2017, I stripped the Ipe Deck with Restore-A-Deck Stripper which was followed by Restore-A-Deck Brightener. The stripping process, while not much fun, worked quite well. There are a few small misses here and there that need to be spot-sanded but nothing major.

My question actually relates to the length of time you need to wait post-brightening before you can apply new oil. The Restore-A-Deck Brightener bag says 48 hours, their web site says 72 hours, and some unrelated web sites say 96 hours. We've had a run of gorgeous weather here in northern NJ, however, that won't last forever. When would it be appropriate to apply new oil? Side note, I'm going with Defy Hardwood in Light Walnut. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

The length of time after prep and before stain varies really on the brand of stain you are suing. Rule of thumb is typically 48 hours and within 2-3 weeks of the prep. Defy states 48 hours or so.

If you can, post some finished pictures.
