Wondering what Armstrong Clark stain to use on my new deck.

I really like the current color so was leaning towards the transparent natural tone or the cedar tone, but those obviously provide significantly less protection.

I applied a test of the transparent natural tone, and the transparent cedar tone on a small piece (not pictured) and didn't notice that much difference between the two. So wondering if I should look into the semi-transparent cedar or even the Hardwood/Softwood Amber for more protection and hope it doesn't change the color THAT much

I really like the current color and I'm trying to avoid anything TOO orange or red. I just worry the Semi-Transparent Cedar or the Hardwood/Softwood Amber will darken this up quite a bit?

What do you think?

Deck is only 1.5 months old. Kiln dried and been very dry here lately in New England. Think it's ready to stain?

You cannot keep the current color as your stain will need to be tinted for UV protection from graying, and that means it will be enhanced. More pigment means better UV protection. Amber would be much richer in color.

OK thank you — understood on the more pigment meaning better UV — I just really don't like the darker and red pigmented stains. So trying to find that happy middle ground of looking natural while protecting the deck.

So you suggest the Amber over the Cedar semi-transperent?

You might want to try some more samples. We like the Amber and the Cedar Semi but colors are very similar between the two.
