Some of the test results show that they where done a while back. TWP was done in 2006.

I know that manufactures are continually changing their formulas. Are the new formulas tested? Are the products retested after a few years?

Yes we are currently testing new changes in formulas and re testing many brands. We will update after two year periods as needed.

We currently have tests in place for:

Olympic *Change in formula
Armstrong Clark in Mahogany and Amber for Hardwoods
Flood Hardwood Stain
Defy Original Synthetic
Penofin Verde *no VOC's
etc.

I'm guessing but the test look to be for one location, one type of wood. A change location/ wood is gong to have different results. Over time it may turn out that there is a best stain for Cedar in Washington, best stain for Pine in Colorado, best stain for IPE in Michigan.

Yesterday I came across Sasin Coatings Classic, SDF and Dec, how about adding those products.

Of course different areas have different results. That is why we created this article: What is the Best Deck Stain

We have never tested the Sasin and have not heard of them. Testing takes 2 years as well.
