I have a three year old deck constructed of Thermaguard wood surrounding our pool 100% sun until it begins to set behind the house. I failed to water seal the deck before children began to swim the first year. As such the stain faded rather quickly. Lengthy discussion with the source of the product resulted in my pressure washing the deck and appling SW Deckscapes semitransparent then sealing the deck. About 10% has peeled and there is some patches of discoloration. I began to pressure wash the deck this spring and am not getting all the stain off. I see I need a stripper/cleaner/brightener solution. Have you heard of Thermaguard heat/pressure treated, prestained wood? How would you recomend I proceed? I know Thermaguard is no longer available, it was marked as inpervious to insects, rotting, and mold because it is essentially desicated. I was told by the dealer that the company only recommended water based products for the wood. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize but we personally have never worked on that wood type before. You will need to remove the SW first. Try a stain stripper and pressure wash until removed. Brighten when done. You do not need a cleaner.

I would think you would have better results with an oil based stain as they will penetrate deeper into the wood.
