Forgive my ignorance...I grew up as a builder's son so I know construction but not much about stains, etc. Also, i cannot find my reading glasses so forgive any mispellings...I'm really not a dumb redneck here in Texas 🙂

We are building a large boathouse / dock in Dallas, TX where summers are hot and humid. I want to paint most of the horizontal posts, trim, etc but stain the deck. Using pressure treated pine.

Looking at TWP100 or Defy Extreme. Regarding exterior white paint, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Excellent site and forum whoever is doing this!

Thanks...any suggestions on the white paint?

Also, if i purchased the wood and let dry in my warehouse for 30 days, would it be safe to stain with TWP after dock is built within another 30 days?

Mike, you do not want a paint per say but a solid color decking stain. Flood Solid Stain or Cabot Solid Stain for the verticals.

No on the TWP. It needs to weather outside in the elements for 4-12 months and then prepped first before staining.

thanks! I guess I am confused. the deck will be stained / treated with TWP. However the vertical beams, beadboard, rafters, trim, etc...I have seen many nice boat houses/docks with actual paint. If there is a white decking stain, which do you recommend?

Best to follow the directions of the stain brand manufacturer on new wood. I am not sure what Flood and Cabot suggest.
