Here are my results with Penofin for Hardwood. I was VERY VERY happy with this product. One thing I will say is don't waste your time with the 3 step process that the require you to do. All you need to do is just sand it and then stain it. I however did the 3 step process but it did not work for me. I stripped the porch, then I used there cleaner and then followed with the brightener. My porch still looked bad so I had to sand it. After speaking with Penofin directly they told me to use the brightener again after I sanded. That was a huge mistake. It made my porch look old and had a lot of black spots on it. What I think happen was that it pulled more dirt and dust out of the wood. My porch is Mahogany. The wood is about 15 years old. This product was easy to apply. Make sure you follow the instructions. Work in areas where you can reach the whole area to wipe it down. You need to apply the stain and then let it sit for 20-30 minutes and the wipe off what ever is on top. If you do not it will make some areas sticky and tacky and you will have to sand again. So make sure you wipe it off GOOD. One great thing about Penofin is that you get NO LAP MARKS. You get none at all. The stain is dry in about 3 hours and I was able to put my furniture back on it in 24 hours. I had to finish around the outside of the deck 3 days later. After it dried and I wiped it down it looked perfect. There were no lap marks. Take a look at the pictures. If you have any questions let me know. I do not do this for a living nor do I work for Penofin. I am just a home owner who would like to share my experience with this product.

You did a very good job and it looks great!

One thing about Peonfin is the initial results are excellent and color is great. Unfortunately, Penofin has a tendency to darken in color or even turn black. Please post a picture if it does. It is also known to last 3-6 months only on exotic hardwoods.

Thanks. I have a question. What causes it to get darker or turn black? Penofin does recommend that after the 1st application that you should reapply in 3-6 months. Then after that you can reapply once a year.

The product itself darken from the UV. Probably from their rosewood oil and or trans oxides. You can ask then why, but they are in denial to their issues. Reapplying will not stop this from happening, but advance it.

OK, thanks. I will let you know what happens after the winter. I am located in Northern NJ. I have a covered porch that gets sunlight for about 3-4 hours a day. What product do you use or recommend to use on Mahogany?

Let's see what happens. If it holds up and does not darken, continue with the same if you are happy. If you need to switch, try Defy Hardwood or Armstrong Clark in Amber.
