Hello all,
In the attached file you can see
- a part of our cedar deck (not stained yet),
- a piece of the same wood with “cedar tone” and “cedar” (about a month old)
- a “natural” tone on the same deck, that has been applied yesterday (on the left side of the picture).

As you may see the “natural” tone on Armstrong site (see http://www.armclark.com/oil-based-wood-stains-and-products/transparent-oil-based-wood-stain.html ) has nothing in common with the what we have in reality. More so, it is darker than what is on their website for transparent "cedartone" or even semi-transparent "cedar semi" ( http://www.armclark.com/oil-based-wood-stains-and-products/semi-transparent-oil-based-wood-stain.html).
Why there is such a discrepancy? We spend much more on cedar wood than we could on redwood, because we wanted to have a light deck, that would match the light oak wood in our LR. Instead… a complete disappointment.

What should we do to have the color they have on their website?
If not them - does anyone has stain as close to "clear" as possible? I don't mind to re-stain each year, but I want our cedar deck look like cedar
Thank you in advance for your help

No file was attached.

Colors for semi-transparent stains will vary drastically based on the age of the wood and the type of the wood. That is why they do not match. This is normal for all stain brands in the industry.

Clear products will not offer UV graying protection. You need tint in the stain for this and the tint will enhance the natural wood grain. Also note that lighter color will gray much faster then darker colors.

There is no true clear products that will give proper UV protection while keeping the natural look of your cedar.
