Hello,

A few years ago I put a semi-transparent stain on my deck and fence. I want to reapply this year and wanted to know if I can gently power wash it, instead of using a cleaner and brightener?

After cleaning the fence and deck, can I just reapply over the old Acrylic semi-transparent stain? I used Olympic Maximum semi-transparent stain the 1st time around. Any thoughts?

Should I be using a different stain over the old stain? Ex. like switching to a solid stain instead of semi transparent. How about using a different brand?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

You should use a cleaner and brightener while pressure washing. It will do a better job and make it easier. Stay with the same brand if you are happy with it. If you want to switch brands then you will need to strip it all off first.
