I probably already know the answer to my question, but it doesn't hurt to ask anyway. The more knowledge the better! My pressure treated pine deck was looking weathered and old as it was installed in 1994. There were loose boards and the screws were popped out and rusted. I did not install this deck as I just bought the house. I decided to pull it up, flip in over and sand it. The deck sits in full sun, I am on the Treasure Coast of SE Florida. I am also on the St Lucie River. I always used Min-Wax for my indoor wood projects but I know this is not for outdoor use. I was going to use a Cabot product but after reading reviews and advice, now I am going to use a TWP product.

My question is besides cleaning any dust and debris from the old/new wood, does anyone reccomend a time frame to wait before applying stain?

Thank You, This web site is filled with information and knowledge!

Here is a pic of the deck flipped over and sanded.
I will post a pic once it is stainded as well.
If you look at the top of the pic through the railing that is a new deck I am waiting to stain. Also my girlfriend painfully hand painted that railing front and back and more that is not in that pic

What grit of paper did you sand with? You might want to let it weather a month, clean and brighten the wood, then apply 1 coat of TWP this year. You can then add a maintenance coat in 12-18 months.
