How critical is the outdoor temperature?

Obviously there's an "ideal" temperature for applying product but what can one "get away" with? Our covered front porch faces the West;the rear covered porch faces South;the small bedroom balcony (uncovered)faces East... all have cedar decks. The uncovered deck off the kitchen faces East. I've got 10 gallons of Cabots semi-transparent and by tomorrow (April 3rd) everything will have had at least 3 full days to have dried. Decks were prepped w/ Jomax (which I'd never recommend to anyone) and power washed thereafter, that because the Jomax made a mess of things. Unfortunately while temps have been in the 60's a cold snap has night-time temps down in the 30's with tomorrow's day temps in the mid 50's. The 3 decks getting direct sunlight have higher actual temps i.e. right now at 9am it's about 34 degrees out (air temp) but three of the decks are reading 50 degrees. The front porch (in full shadow) is naturally much cooler. With travel and weather considerations (3 clear days ahead!) in play, I'm anxious to get this project out of the way. What are the consequences of applying in cooler weather? Simply longer drying times? Thanks!

Peter, every stain brand is different. It is best to follow their directions for temperature application. Your temps are not ideal with the Cabot. You could have drying and possibly curing issues. If it has issues then your stain may not perform properly. I would contact them to make sure.
