Hi, I recently used Olympic deck cleaner and a power washer to clean my pressure treated deck. It did a pretty good job but I did have a lot of extra work to get the old stain off the rim boards and the posts. Now that I've got that taken care of I learned that I should have used a sodium percarbonate wood deck cleaner instead. I do have a white residue on the wood that I can't seem to get off. I'm concerned it will prevent stain from soaking in correctly.

My question is, is there a product that would be recommended to re-clean the deck to remove the white residue or should I just try to use a brightener to take care of it or am I out of luck and need just replace the wood now?

Thanks for your help.

I've added some pictures to show you what the problem is.

The first two pictures are after I tried to sand the wood down using a belt sander. The last picture is the floor before sanding.

That is oxidation of the wood cells that were not completely removed with the initial cleaning. You can try cleaning again with a little more pressure and a sodium percarbonate based deck cleaner. Take not that if you do not see this white fuzz when wet with water then you will most likely not see it when stained.
