We are currently removing a beige-coloured Behr semi-trans premium using RAD stripper and pressure washer (leaves a LOT of furring), and / or using a belt sander and orbital sander with 40 grit (works well).  We will be re-staining with RAD semi trans "cedar".

Here, in our area of Canada, the most popular decking is what they used to call "radius-edged", or rounded.  The sanders can't reach around the "shoulders" of the curve when there is a board next to it.  The stripper and pressure washing does work, but because it leaves a lot of furring (yes, we are spraying too close, but after hours of work, one just can't resist!), we are going to have to sand those areas anyway.

Do you know of any tips/techniques or tool hacks that will help us sand these rounded edges on our 1,000 sq ft deck? I'm dreading the idea of using a sanding sponge by hand!

Thank you.

Hmmmm. You have no idea how sorry I am to hear this. There must be money to be made for someone to design a tool for this!

Thanks very much for all your help so far. If we come up with a time-saving solution, I’ll share it here.
