We have a deck with smooth planed cedar planks that was built and stained with "Ready Seal" a year ago. The stained planks look fine except where they are in the sun most of the time, where I guess sunlight has faded it into splotches that are lighter.
Do I need t strip the deck's original stain before restaining it or would it be advisable to just clean it with an oxygen-based cleaner and use a different brand, darker stain over it?
Any helpful advice is appreciated.
To show the UV damage I refered to in my original post please see these images. Outer sun-exposed area in one...shaded are without breakdown in the other.
You need to strip and brighten the wood. Should not stain over the Ready Seal with a different brand.
