We had our pine deck sanded and a coat of Ben Moore oil base translucence, K326 was applied. About 20 hours later a second coat was applied. Approx. 3 hours after second coat was applied it rained. Now the deck is covered in white rimmed irregular circles. Photo attached. The Contractor is coming back in a couple days and says those marks will go away. More rain is expected. What do the experts think?

thank you, s. Ontario, not sure pics are attached

Not sure if they will go away. They look like water separation spots. Try wiping off with a wet rag. If they go away then you are good. If not, then you will have to strip to fix.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you know what would have caused water separation spots?  If they don't go away would we have to re-sand (strip to fix), then use a better? oil based finish?

The stain was not dry by the time that the rain came. Oil and water do not mix so you get these spots. has happened to us numerous times through the years. We strip and remove to start over.
