Hello Attached is a photo of my front picket fence. It is 6 months old unfinished pine.
I am seeking a quality semi-transparent oil-based white stain. I saw a previous post mentioned 3 years ago about looking for the same type of stain and was hoping it may be available now.
I have already checked the brands, TWP, Defy, Restore-A-Deck and Armstrong-Clark.
Restore-A-Deck does have a Solid Color Wood Stain in white. Any experiences?
I am weary of doing a solid color white on the fence even with a good quality brand of paint as peeling will occur. Overtime I will have uneven layers of paint covering chipped off areas.
I'm open to water-based stain. I was also thinking of a whitewash, as it will be thin and won't chip.
If there is a good solid white stain I'm open to it. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.
There are no true semi-transparent white stains, only semi-solid or solid white stains are made. We do not like the semi-solid versions so look at the solid stains. RAD makes a great solid stain. You will need a few coats though on new wood to cover.
No such thing as a whitewash stain for exterior wood.
