I have a cedar deck that I put behr stain on. I can't remember the exact type, but it was only semi transparent. 2 years later it was peeled and awful looking. I had someone power wash the deck and restore it, but there are some spots they didn't get all the old stain off. I was planning on using twp 100 but he said it wouldn't hide where some old stain didn't come up. Any suggestions on what to use that will cover but won't peel and have to be stripped in the future? Deck is in Michigan. Thanks for the help!
Sorry, forgot to mention that the deck is full sun all day every day. No issues with mold so far. Should I sand off the stain that didn't come off from washing and still use TWP? Trying to do it right this time!
If you just have a small amount left then it is possible to blend it by using a similar color. If it is a decent amount, then I would sand and lightly re wash when done.
Thanks for the info. I think I am going to have to sand. Any suggestions as to what grit sandpaper with an orbital sander?
60 grit or less. Be careful of swirl marks with orbital sanders.
