I have been asked to quote re-coating a weathered wooden walkway through wooded wetlands. The walkway is made of pressure treated lumber but has been neglected for years. It is cracked, splintered, mildewed with some algae growth. What is the best product to use to fill the cracks and cover the splinters to best protect the wood as well as the visitors.
Semi-transparent stains do not fill cracks or cover splinters. If you want to do that you will need a solid color stain or deck paint that lies on top of the wood or films on top. These will look like a paint and will peel.
We are not a fan of these products as the wood will not look like wood anymore.
