Hi all......hope you can help me here. I have a fir ceiling on my front farmes porch that has been polyurethaned and had some discoloring of the wood ( darkening spots etc. from powerwashing in the past.) Can I lightly sand the surface and apply some kind of semi solid stain to even the tone of things and hide the uneven look of things ? If so ....what products could you recommend ?

Thanks

No you cannot apply a stain on top of the poly. You would need to remove the poly first.

I was told I could possibly use a minwax semi-solid stain and poly combo to cover over the existing finish.....do you think that could work ?
