After cleaning the deck with a deck cleaner and a brightener, can I stain over any old stain that hasn't failed? Will staining over the old stain affect the color of the new stain? The old stain still looks good on the rails, and if I don't have to remove it I won't

Thanks

If you are using the same stain then yes you can do that. It may have a different color though in the areas have no stain compared to areas that have some stain left.

Thanks

First of all I'm an 80 yr.old woman doing this myself. I need to stain over an old stain. I have a peeling wood patio that was professionally done 2 years ago. I have power washed the patio and have sanded it by hand and washed the patio can I now stain over it once the patio has dried? Also where can I by TWP Stains, I live in northeast Ohio.

Thanks

Sounds like it is ready to be stained. As for TWP Dealers, we do not know exactly where or if there is any in your area. I would do a Google Search for "TWP Dealers in Ohio"

I have Behr solid stain on my deck. I don't want to remove the old stain. Is it a waste of money to put a higher quality stain (I'm thinking Cabot) on top of it ?

Hard to say as applying a better stain on top of a poor stain does not "fix" the poor quality stain. The Cabot will be subject to the Behr failure.
