Hi, first off let me say thank you for such an informative site. This season I am undergoing a project to refinish my pressure treated 20' x 12' deck in Central PA. If not for this site I would have followed CR's recommendation and used a Behr product. I have instead decided to use TWP 1500 per this site's review once the prep work is done. The previous homeowner used a Cabot's solid color stain and I have spent the last few days sanding the finish off the railings but have not yet moved onto the floor boards. My question is a product like Restore-A-Deck Stripper effective at removing solid car stains? Or should I just continue on with the sanding (60 grit)?

My plan:
1) RAD Stripper on floor boards and hard to reach areas I could not sand.
2) RAD Cleaner on sanded areas.
3) RAD Brightener on all areas.
4) Finish with TWP 1500.

Deck stain strippers will not remove solid color stains effectively. You would need to sand this off. I would sand it all off then use the cleaner and the brightener on all of the deck to prep after the sanding.

"Behr" is such a poor stain. It really makes you wonder about CR. Even the homeowners (On Consumers Site) who used Behr, rated it a 1 out of 5 stars.

Years ago they tested TWP and they gave it a #1 rating. Then they stopped testing it. Not sure why but I really think it comes down to money.

Yes, the user reviews for Behr on CR's site alone were warning enough. Thanks for the advice, I will post pics when the project is complete.
