2 questions:  A)  What are the pros/cons of using solid stain (white) on the vertical posts and rails of our porch vs. painting them white?

and, B)  My husband is turning custom rails for the porch, and is using untreated wood (4x4's from the lumber shop).  will they need to be treated somehow to seal them against occasional rain water, or would the Flood solid stain be enough protection?  Can the Flood solid stain be directly applied to untreated wood, or not?

Thanks!

A) Solid stains soak into wood railings better than paints.

B) Ne wood needs to season for a few months and then cleaned and brightened for prep. Once this is done you can go straight to the Flood Solid Stains. You cannot seal first and then stain over.
