Hi there--I just posted before/after photos of my deck restoration work on the other thread (see Penyroyl1). I had a really banged-up mahogany deck that I stripped + brightened with the Restore-a-Deck kit and then stained with 2 coats of Defy Hardwood. My garage doors are made of Douglass Fir and were last treated with Australian Timber Oil about three years ago. It's starting to be in need of some TLC. So my question--should I just lightly powerwash it and apply another coat of Australian Timber Oil? Or should I strip+brighten the whole thing with Restore-A-Deck (I have some left over) and then stain the same color as my front deck with my leftover Defy Hardwood stain? Thanks for any advice!
The photos attached are two showing the front of the garage doors (the darker looking wood colors) and one photo of the back on the interior garage side (untreated Douglas Fir).
The easiest would be to clean and recoat with the ATO, but you have to make sure you can actually get the same ATO as before. You may not as they have changed formulas. If you cannot find the exact same, then best to strip, brighten, and try the Defy.
