Napa Valley, California at 1,000 elevation. Last fall(2011) I installed a new redwood deck. I had it sealed with Mesmer's UV Ultra "Clear Redwood" stain. It was a light coat, about 1.5 gallons for a 750sqft deck. The deck is mainly south facing (full sun) with an east section (morning sun) and a west section (afternoo and evening sun). Is their a better stain than Mesmer's for this area? A want to stay with a stain like the "Clear Redwood" beause I enjoy the look of the wood and do not want to cover it up with a solid stain.

Why a "Security Code"? I do not care who reads or writes to this.

I would look at Armstrong Clark Stain or TWP 1500 Series. They are excellent products.

Security codes help control spammers. Without it we would have all kinds of garbage posts with links to bad sites.

I misspoke earlier, the stain is "Natural Redwood". I this a clear or semi-transparent stain? Why does no one include Mesmer's in their comparisons?

I believe the Natural Redwood is a transparent. You can read the Messmers rating here. Messmers UV Plus
