First is the TWP 1500, then Defy Extreme. I prefer the Defy for it's silky appearance, but the TWP sure does repel that rainwater. I assume the Defy is doing what it's supposed to do, but I am surprised to see how little the water beads. They were applied in the same week, 4 months ago, Defy on the north side (the mildewy side), TWP on the south side.

Any comments?

"Beading" water is really not important. You do not want the wood to be 100% sealed as you want it to breathe. Most high end stains will not bead water for very long but "shed" water. The TWP while doing this now will most likely not bead after 6-9 months.

The need to bead water off a deck is a myth that was created by the Thompsons Water Seal Commercials.
