Hello...

We have a redwood deck that was stained with semi transparent red stain when we bought the house. We sanded and re-stained with Benjamin Moore red stain 2 years ago and it has already flaked off. We are going to re-sand and stain again with a beige color. What product do you recommend for extreme weather; intense UV, sudden shifts in a wide range of temperatures and lots of snow? We would like something that could last 5 years or so because it is a huge deck.

Thank you

I am sorry but nothing will last 5 years especially in your climate. 2-3 years is the best you will get on a horizontal surface. That is why you want a penetrating stain that is easy to clean and recoat in a few years without the need for sanding.

I do not know any semi-transparent stains that are "beige" in color.

I would look at the Armstrong Clark in the semi-solid Mountain Cedar color. This would as close to beige then I can think of.
