Hi, I live in No Virginia and 2 years ago I painted my 800 sf deck with Behr Restore Paint.  It has now peeled heavily and looks really bad.  I want to power wash, sand the entire deck, clean, stain and seal.  I like the reviews on TWP but am not sure if I should seal the deck after staining?

Will the stain actually prevent rot?  Also, have many trees around the deck which always have things falling on the deck and between the boards.  It is hard to get them out by blowing.  Would "Caulking with LETEX" between boards be the answer or routing to make the cracks larger be a better idea.  I am a single female and need help please.  Thank you.

Hello,

You cannot caulk between deck boards. It will ruin the deck and look terrible when stained with a semi-transparent deck stain like TWP. Also, you never apply a sealer over top of a deck stain. Will not work nor is there any need.
