We started our Ipe Siding project a year ago and we wrapped the bottom of our house first. We've been using Penofin transparent oil to protect it. And now, one year later we are ready to install our Ipe Siding to our second story wrapping two separate areas.
Our local supplier couldn't source our IPE that we used on our bottom story so I ended up ordering it from advantage lumber along with a Deckwise IPE Oil to protect it. And now that I am halfway through installing the siding for the second story we noticed a drastic difference between the new IPE and the old IPE in our bottom story from a year ago.
I would like these two to match a little more and I am ready to strip, sand and brighten the new IPE and remove the Deckwise IPE Oil since I suspect that is part of the reason the boards took such a red dark hue instead of the natural varied look we all love about IPE. My question is what to do about staining; Do I use the Penofin formula I've been using on the bottom story or do I try something more with and AMBER tint to help match my IPE in the bottom story? I purchased a gallon of the Armstrong Clark semi-transparent Amber to try it out and see if I can get a closer match.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you! I've never tried the AC Amber so we'll test it on a few boards.
I really do prefer the natural look so if I strip and brighten both would you also recommend the AC Transparent to achieve the natural look for both or is the Amber tint look even better? I know it's subjective but I am really interested in your personal opinion of transparent vs. amber
