I have a 12 x 40 foot covered porch with a 1 year old application of Cabot Deck & Siding oil base stain on. The surface from new has been a dull finish and has held up well. There are some areas that need touch up (mostly from moving things in & out of the house) and so I am thinking of re-coating the entire surface. My question is should I strip it back down (big job) or just re-apply over the existing finish?

I would use a cleaner to prep then do a very light maintenance coat.

Very light coat then back wipe any excess after 30 minutes or so.

New issue, since the product is oil based it has been removed from the market so I am looking for something good to use in its place. I have heard that Sikkens or TWP100 would be good but I wonder about putting it over the Cabot oil base...

We never put different stains on top of another coating. We always remove first. This allows the new stain to perform the way it is supposed to.
