We installed a new two-tier cedar deck with upper deck screened in with full gable and lower deck open with mostly shade (but some sun). We live in south Texas where it is mostly dry and were advised to apply a semi-transparent oil based stain which would have fairly good longevity given our environment. We were hoping to find a color that is slightly light brown/gray to coordinate with our existing exterior, but many of the stains we have tested are very yellow/orange or dark brown and while they look beautiful, they do not match the existing exterior. Do you have any suggestions for our situation? Light colors are preferable as the upper deck will be dark due to being screened in with roof.

None of the stains that we know of will have a color that is gray/brown. You could try mixing two colors. Something like Armstrong Clark Stains with a mix of Driftwood Gray and Rustic Brown.
