I’ve finished stripping and brightening my deck in preparation to stain with TWP-100. Also sanded the railings with 80 grit. Attached is a photo of the stripped/brightened flooring. Planned to sand with a rented orbital deck sander, but have quite a few un-recessed screw head, which are Phillips, and can’t be tightened further. I did a few boards with a hand orbital sander, and calculate I can do the deck in about 8 hours. Here are my questions.
1. Is it worthwhile to replace any screws I can remove with T-25 star drive screws? Some heads are stripped and I can’t get them out easily. Any suggestions.
2. Used 80 grit on the orbital sander on test floor boards and it made them pretty smooth. Will this make the stain less likely to absorb. Can I use 60 grit or courser?
3. After sanding, use a cleaner or brightener?
4. If I swab the deck with Acetone just before staining, will it make the stain absorb better?
5. Finally, considering TWP101 Cedartone color for the deck. Would a darker tone like TWP115 Honeytone or TWP120 cover imperfections better and provide better UV protection?
Great forum, thanks for all your help.

1. Yes I would replace the screws where you can.
2. Too smooth and it will not absorb very well. Try the 60 grit and use a deck cleaner/brightener after the sanding to remove sand dust and swell the pores.
3. Yes
4. Maybe. Old trick and not sure as to the effectiveness
5. Honeytone is lighter then the 101. Darker colors do not hide imperfections but can offer slightly better UV resistance.
