I have some cracks and splits in my wood. Should I use a deck paint/Cover like super deck instead of a stain to fill the gaps in the wood. I just want to preserve the life of the deck and make it look as nice as possible. Im open to almost anything that would let me get the longest life and best look. If my best option is a TWP stain I will go with that. But Super Deck seams to promise exactly what I'm looking for.

3.Not sure what type of wood but it looks pressure treaded (picture attached).
4. I power washed some green stuff with a deck cleaner from deck scapes. It does not look like it was previously stained.

If I use a TWP stain do I have to rewash with their deck product or is the deck was I used from deckscapes good enough? Please help I don't want to screw this up.

These deck covering finishes are basically just thick paints and they peel. Either way you go, the wood does not look very clean. To me it looks like there is some remnants of an old stain. Might want to strip and brighten the wood for further prep. Try the TWP 1500 or the Armstrong Clark.

Thank You so much. I will go with your advice and get TWP 1500 or the Armstrong Clark. I purchased Restore a Deck cleaner and brightener I hope I got the right thing. I did not know I needed a stripper. Do you think what I bought will work or do I need to exchange it? Can I use it on my fence as well. I will post before and after pics when I'm done.

Hard to say but the stripper is more effective.

I spoke to the last owner and he said that he did not stain it but used a water sealer. Did would I need a stripper for that? Or would the cleaner work?

The cleaner and brightener may be good enough if all of the old sealer has failed and the wood has grayed.
