Hi there. I originally purchased the 1500 dark oak, but found it was much darker then anticipated. I then purchased the 100 series in Cedar tone.

I've read that a really nice look is 3 parts Cedar tone to 2 parts Dark Oak.

Question is can I combine the 1500 and 100 together? I hope so...I guess I can always test an area?

Thanks!

K

I'd also like to have the deck boards be different in color: some darker(will put on dark oak) some lighter(cedar tone) and some in between(When I MIX the two)

???

Yes you can combine together but sure about having different color boards.

I suppose each board is different when you stain a deck and that's when you get variations in the color of the deck?

I guess what I'm wondering is how this look is achieved? There seems to be about 3 different tones on the deck. Is it one stain color or are they using different combinations of stain?

I've seen a lot of decks that have this variation in color. I'd like to have this as well. I have a cedar deck currently.

I am not sure how to submit a photo on here. I see the tab, but it doesn't give me an option of upload a photo.

One stain color and the wood takes it differently. Can can upload pictures by clicking the "reply" tab in the blue below.

That is not different stain colors but just different boards taking the stain differently. Has a lot to do with the wood type as well. The top and middle wood is IPE. I like the TWP stain can in the middle!
