Hello all,
I am looking at restaining my deck this year after stripping and brightening, and was wondering what the best way to apply new stain is. I have brushed on in the past, along with rollers. I have heard of using a pump sprayer as well, or application pads. Does anyone have a recommended method to achieve the best, most uniform results? Also, is it best to apply on an overcast day, or can it be done under full sun? I am looking at applying the TWP 100 stain.
Thanks!

We like stain pads as they allow us to apply evenly and "push" the stain into the wood pores. Full sunny days can dry faster so it may be a little easier to apply on a cloudy day with no rain.

Any tips/tricks/special tools you would recommend for getting stain into tight spaces, specifically nooks and crannies around spindles and rails? Are there small stain pads or stain mitts that would accomplish this the best?
Thanks!

We use little plastic spray bottles. Like a windex bottle and spray it into those hard to reach areas.
