I live in KY and recently installed a custom horizontal louvered rough cut cedar fence (see image). It turned out great but I can't seem to find any definitive reviews that give me what I want. The goal is to seal and protect it ASAP without covering the natural grain and wood too much - so ideally using transparent oil stain- not sure if Cabot Timber Oil would hold up well? Local supplier suggested Sikkens Translucent CETOL SRD but doesn't have great reviews. Don't trust Benjamin Moore / Sherwin for exterior stains. Any insight is helpful. At this point just want to get something on it to protect it!
Fence gets a good bit of sun throughout the day - I don't mind restraining every 2 yrs or so.
It is too early to stain now. See this for tips on new wood:
Once you wait and prep, try Armstrong Clark in Natural or Cedar Tone transparent colors.
Has been a little over a month since it was installed. I don't want to wait too long...
Im not about to order a stain that I can't find reviews for anywhere else but this site let alone see in person. Any viable, attainable options would be appreciated!
