I'm having a crew come out to stain my 2 front decks. The decks are made from PT brown wood. It was installed about 1.5 years ago. Never stained / sealed. The staining crew came out 2 days ago to clean the 2 decks and left them to dry. See photos below.

They offer Armstrong Clark deck stains -- several stain colors but will stick with their Semi-Transparent selection. The siding of the home is Yellow color (a tad toward whitish tho) but i believe the industry typically calls it Ivory or Cream? The roof shingles are going to be changed this year to black or very dark grey.

I would appreciate your thoughts on what Armstrong Clark semi-transparent stain would work best with the overall look of the home. So far i'm considering: Mahogany, Cedar, Sierra Redwood, Rustic Brown, and Amber. But let's hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

Rustic Brown or Amber. Rustic brown will be a medium brown color while Amber will be more gold. The Mahogany and Sierra will be red and I do not think it will look that good with your house IMO.

Please post finished pictures so we can see!

Thanks admin. My only concern with Rustic Brown is it may be too dark. I got a sample of it and will try. Will see if i can get ahold of Amber too. "More gold"? So it would shift the existing color of my deck (what you see in photos) toward a more yellowish tone? Colors are so tough to describe eh. I will get a sample.

I tried some samples on deck, all semi:

Rustic Brown -- too dark
Amber -- too orange
Cedar -- it has a dirty dull yellow look

Sadly not impressed by any of these on my sample test. Is it possible to LIGHTEN the Rustic Brown? Or tone down the orange appearance of the Amber?

You can lighten the RB by adding Amber or Darken the Amber some by adding a little RB.
