I want to restain a deck. It is al least 20 years old and is made of pressure treated wood. It looks like there was solid stain on it. I think it was water based.
So far we have power washed it and we rented a floor sander from big box and sanded the deck. What concerns us is there is still stain left after the power washing and sanding. What can we do at this point and what solid stain would you recommend? We need something that comes in a grey color to match the house

When redoing with another solid stain you do not have to remove all of the old coatings as your new stain will cover it. Look at Flood Solid Color stains.

I thought it was best to stay away from all stain sold in big box stores?

We have never seen the Flood Solid stains at a big box store but if it is, then you can use it. We get it from a specialty paint store.

When I first went on the Flood website to see who sold it in my area, HD came up. Now when I look at their website I see they don't carry the whole line. I will look for a specialty paint sotore in my area. Should I prime it first, or just apply 2 coats? Thanks again for your help

One last question... Do I need to use the wood stripper they are recommending first? I powerwashed and sanded the deck with a belt sander. There is some visible solid stain left in a similar color. I also have a small section of new boards I needed to replace.

You may be good to proceed as long as the old stain is not peeling.

I ended up useing the flood solid colored stain last year. It covered and held up great so far. The color I chose ended up being slightly lighter than I would have wanted, but it looks clean so thats the most important.
It is showing some dirt so I want to clean it without taking off the finish. What is the best product to clean my deck without removing the finish I applied last year?

Try warm water with some dish soapy added. Wash with a very soft scrub brush of push broom. Rinse with water when done.
