Hello,

based on the recommendations by this website, I went with the Defy wood cleaner and then the defy wood brightener as well. My deck is pressure treated pine and it's been exposed to the elements for almost 2 years without stain. I'm finally getting around to things!

Anyway, after using the wood cleaner (and scrubbing things like crazy) the wood looked great while it was wet. When it dried, it seems to have a whitish film/residue in areas. I figured this would be taken care of by the wood brightener. So, I applied brightener and I see maybe a minor improvement but I definitely still see the white. Again, it looked great while wet, but when it dries it looks like the pictures below. My question is: is this normal? Do I need to do something else before application of the stain? I made sure to rinse a lot because I thought that might be the issue. Also, it rained a lot yesterday and the 3rd picture is after all the rain. Thanks!

That is oxidized wood cells that did not get removed completely during the cleaning. Did you use a pressure washer? More then likely if you cannot see this when wet with water then you will not this when stained.

I used a pressure washer to rinse the cleaner and a hose to rise the brightener. I have a pressure washer available. Would you recommend washing with a pressure washer?

Try washing done again with water to see if you can remove the wood fibers.
