Hi All,

I botched up my deck staining it with Cabot Semi-Transparent Oil Based Stain (16380) and tried removing the stain with the Cabot stripper. Didn't work well, but it hadn't cured yet at the time and the lady at Cabot said I might need to wait for it to cure before the stripper will work. Regardless, I think I will need to sand the deck to get it ready to stain again.

I've been doing some research and it sounds like a vibrating plate sander is my best bet. My local rental co. has one for rent (I believe it is 12 x 18). My deck is rectangular, approx. 420 sq ft. Any idea how long it will take to sand this size of a deck with one of these sanders? Do they work pretty quickly? Thanks.

We rarely sand decks as they can be a pain to do. I would sand off what you can then re strip to remove the rest. Brighten all when done.
