Waterborne stain fix?

We followed contractor's recommendation and had huge new necks stained with Sherwin-Williams Deckscapes Exterior Waterborne Semi-Transparent Deck Stain with very disappointing results! (I wish I'd known to research ahead of time and would have seen your reviews!)
Not only is the stain not semi-transparent, we are getting what seem to be permanent water marks after every rain (and in Charlotte, NC, that's very frequent!).
I've tried hosing, mopping with Simple Green and using a squeegee to no avail. After only two weeks, our decks look awful 🙁
Is there some kind of topcoat we can add? or any other product that we can layer over this stain. I'd really hate to have to strip and start over!
If we do have to take on a total redo, what are our options? What products are most recommended for full sun in hot and humid to freezing range of weather conditions?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You may be able to touch up the spots that are failing using the same stain, but it will eventually flake off. Acrylic stains are not easy to remove or reapply. You can try stripping it with a commercial grade stripper like HD80 (sodium hydroxide mixed with a non-sudsing surfactant), but likely for the best appearance it will need to be removed by sanding and stained with a better product (choose a penetrating stain). Defy Extreme is rated well on this site for mold resistance, but you would have to get the old stain off which will be difficult. If you are lucky a lot of it will flake off in a year so there will be less sanding to do.

You cannot fix this issue. You will need to remove and start over. The only way to remove is to sand it all off as a stain stripper will not remove this effectively as it is filming like a solid stain or paint.
