Hello, I just had a quick question about applying a second coat of solid color stain to my deck. I'm using the water based one from flood. It says to apply "thin coats" but I couldn't really find anything about what that is supposed to look like. Anyway, we completed one coat of white stain on our trim in the evening so there was no sun, but we could not get around to doing the second coat within four hours like it says. I suppose we could have done smaller portions, but we're past that point now. Would it be okay to apply a second when at least 24 hours have past? It doesn't really look like it needs it, but this is a question of durability. Not quite sure how it's supposed to look since it's solid color and the first coat seems to have absorbed it well. I can't find much info on solid color...
If it looks good then just leave as is. You can always add another coat next year if needed.
