I read the review here for super deck stain after I had already stained my cedar soffit with it. Many people complain about black mold. I hoped that since my cedar with in the soffit it would generally have no organic matter accumulating and would get very little moisture. I stained both sides of the soffit material prior to installation and had the material inside and it was dry. I am in the pacific northwest. It has been 2 years since it was stained.
Generally it still looks ok but there are some boards that are exceptions. What is my best course of action, sand the moldy boards and re-stain? Is the mold problem here a problem with the stain and the linseed oil content as indicated in other reviews?
It looks like a problem with both the stain and your environment. The easiest thing would be to strip, brighten and restain with the Restore A Deck Wood stain or the Defy Extreme. Neither will promote mildew growth.
