We live in North Georgia, and have a 12 year old pressure treated pine deck. We live on a farm, and the deck gets heavy use as it is our main entrance. The deck gets about 3-4 hours of midday sun. I pressure washed it today, and plan to use step one and two of Restore a Deck, cleaner and brightener before staining.
I have stained it twice before with TWP semi transparent oil stain 100 series. It did not hold up well to foot traffic. The deck is showing it's age, we have replaced a few boards, so I am interested in a semi solid or solid stain, but am concerned about the foot traffic. I would appreciate your recommendations.
I tried to upload pictures... total fail!!!
No stain is immune to heavy foot traffic. Eventually, you will get wear patterns. Do you prefer to see some grain or is a solid opaque appearance okay?
I have seen so many solid stained decks that peel ... so I prefer semi transparent.
No semi-transparent stain will hold up any better than the TWP 100 Series when it comes to heavy foot traffic.I have seen so many solid stained decks that peel ... so I prefer semi transparent.
Then TWP 100 it is! I ordered some Dark Oak, whereas before I used Cedartone.
Thank you for your advice!
