I am in SW Colorado and about to re-stain a 3 - story approx. 1700 sq ft older deck that has previously been solid stained. The owner wants it refinished in solid and most of the existing finish is in decent shape (in that there is no peeling, mostly chalking), with some notable exceptions (peeling) where some poorly done repairs where not finished correctly. The readily available solids in this area are BM Arborcote and Behr, neither of which I want to use (the repairs were finished with Arborcote - a gal can was left with the owner, I don't know what was used on the rest). Mildew is definitely NOT an issue in this climate, but UV is a BIG problem. Can anyone recommend the best option for UV protection in a good quality Solid ? I should be able to order in most any product. The deck will be properly prepped. Thanks.
Try Flood Solid stains.
