My house was last stained with Sears Weatherbeater Plus semi-transparent stain (water clean-up) but it now seems that Sears no longer markets stains under their own name. I will need to find a replacement stain that can be applied over the existing stain and that closely matches the colors I have used. I did confirm that the Sears stain was made for them by Sherwin Williams but they (SW) say the formulation and colors were unique so there is no obvious direct SW replacement. All I can find on the Sears stain is that it's water clean-up (from an old can) and apparently latex based (comment on the web). Anyone know more about the sears stain and what general type of stains can or can't be applied over top.

Thx

Garth

I am sorry but we have never used or seen a Sears brand stain. It may be time to strip off the old stain and start over with a different brand.
