Hi everyone. I just had a new cedar deck installed, and I stained it with Australian Timber Oil in the transparent natural shade. I am not happy at all with the deck's appearance as it is sickeningly orange in color.
I am so sorry I used this product. Can I wash the ATO off with a deck stain remover or will I need to power sand it off? I would like to use a higher quality stain afterwards in a neutral earth tone.
If using a stain remover, should I do it ASAP before the ATO has cured, or should I wait till next spring and let the suns rays bleach it out a bit (the deck faces south with full sun) and then strip it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P.S. Great site! Wish I had found it sooner.
It will be much easier to remove next Spring with a deck stain stripper. Very hard to strip just applied stain.
